I was in the Young Adult section at our local library with my teenager when I saw Hood on the new arrivals section. The cover caught my eye and I checked it out.
Audrey and I have been reading a lot of books with spins on Disney classics, so I was excited to read this one.
Hood tells the story of Robin Hood’s daughter, Isabelle. Oh, you didn’t know he had a daughter? Well, neither did I.
When Isabelle learns who her father is, she must make some hard choices as she fights to save her family and her new friends she made in Sherwood Forest.
Along the way, she finds out that some people she thought she knew, may have been betraying her all along.
I did really enjoy this extension of the classic Robin Hood tale. The chapters are short so if you need a book where you can quickly find a stopping place, this is a great option. I enjoyed all of the connections to the original story, as well as some background knowledge of the characters. It wasn’t one of those books I couldn’t put down, but I am glad I checked it out.
If you’re not into YA, it may not be the book for you. However, if you are or you love books with a spin on Disney classics, this is definitely one I’d recommend checking out.
